Buying a car, particularly a used car, isn’t like buying groceries at your local store. For the most part, the items you find in store in January will be the same as the ones in February and March and April and so on. In a car dealership, your available used selection could be completely different week to week, and of course, you have to shop around. You finding that perfect car is a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Well imagine that that place is 5 stories and approximately 2,326,000 square feet (that’s about 40 football fields). It’s called Autotopia Europia.
Located in Istanbul, Turkey, Autotopia will be the largest auto-mall in the world. Car shopping just got easier (or harder depending on your point of view). Not only will you be able to choose from a wide selection of new and used vehicles, you can seek coverage from one of the 42 insurance companies or withdraw funds from one of the 24 banks. There will be 48 service stations and 56 eateries included with other amenities. They also anticipate selling motorcycles, boats, and bicycles.
The designers, Gökhan Avcıoğlu (GAD) and Dara Kırmızıtopra, even included a race track on the roof to test drive the vehicles. Did I mention that there is ample circulation? So much so, that you can tour the complex in your vehicle. Rev your engines (but don’t hit anyone)! They expect millions of visitors a year and have included a 900 car parking garage. However, Autotopia will not be the only auto-mall on the block. Another called Otoport (Go-kart track included) is scheduled to open in 2011.
Though I will be in search of more technical details to satisfy my own curiosity, I must say that the renderings are quite sleek. Check out the complete gallery.
